The second of three visits stateside for FORMULA 1, Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is the latest home of the United States Grand Prix and has been a fixture on the FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar since 2012. Located a short drive from Austin, Texas, the circuit borrows numerous notable designs from other circuits and with plenty of gradient, often proves quite a spectacle and plenty of passing opportunities.
Like many things in Texas, the circuit is big and brash and provides more than a motor race with frequent festivals, concerts as well as other sporting events within the confines of the 20-turn 5.5KM circuit.
The run to the first turn is spectacular as the cars climb an impressive gradient before a tight left-hander. With passing opportunities aplenty, the circuit then heads into a sequence of fast sweeping corners based on the Silverstone Maggots-Becketts complex. A tight hairpin at turn 11 leads into a long straight and then a more complex set of corners leading back around to the start=finish straight.
The circuit features a unique viewing platform as well as excellent hospitality options including Paddock Club™ which is located directly above the team garages and overlooking the start-finish straight.
