Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix 2021

21 Nov 2021

THE QATAR GRAND PRIX WILL FILL THE VACANT NOVEMBER SLOT ON THE 2021 F1 CALENDAR IN NOVEMBER

Formula 1 has confirmed a new night race, at Losail International Circuit, will take place on the 19-21 November – filling the vacant spot on the 2021 F1 calendar. Qatar will become a semi-permanent destination for Formula 1, initially for 10 years from 2023 to 2032 – as the country will focus on hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022. The 2023 event will be held at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue, with a new circuit now in the planning stages.

Qatar joins F1’s existing middle east destinations: Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia. Opened in 2004, Losail has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP calendar ever since. Lighting was added to the venue in 2007, creating MotoGP’s first night event.

Under recommendations from FIA race director Michael Masi and F1’s sporting director Steve Nielsen, revisions to pit entry and modifications to some kerbs and barriers, as well as new team hospitality buildings in the paddock are currently underway to make it suitable for a grand prix.

Red Bull Racing’s Sergio Perez is the only current F1 driver to have raced at Losail, said: “I hardly remember the circuit. I remember that it was very smooth, because it was done for MotoGP. I think it will be a good place.”

It is not yet confirmed whether Formula One Paddock Cub will operate in Qatar, so to register your interest in the FORMULA 1 QATAR GRAND PRIX 2021 with BAM F1 please get in touch & sign up for updates.
