Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya has been a mainstay on the FIA Formula One World Championship calendar for three decades, hosting the Spanish Grand Prix for the first time in 1991. Located 30-minutes northeast of the city of Barcelona, the circuit is well known as being a high downforce circuit, one that the teams are all familiar with due to its historical use in FORMULA 1 testing.

With 16-turns, the majority of them at relatively high speed, race cars with the most downforce and aerodynamic efficiency for the long start-finish straight, tend to dominate. The addition of the chicane at the end of the lap reduced the time and is said to almost mimic the Monaco Grand Prix perfectly in terms of handling characteristics.

The circuit features an impressive pit and paddock complex on the main straight, with the Paddock Club™ situated directly above affording great views of the race start and the run down to the main overtaking area, turn one.
