Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix 2021

13 Jun 2021

Named after the late Ferrari driver, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has been the home of the Canadian Grand Prix since its opening in 1978. The venue is something special in its own right, having been constructed on the man-made island of Notre Dame Island located in the Saint Lawrence River. The island was built using the rock excavated from the Montreal Metro system built in 1965, initially hosted Expo 67, and then the 1976 Olympics before becoming the Canadian home of Formula 1.

The 4.4KM circuit is a curious mix of a traditional road course, combined with street circuit hazards and remains a favourite for drivers and fans alike due to its high-speed nature and challenges of the ever-present barriers. The ‘wall of champions’ has caught out the very best over the years on the exit of the final turn and while safety gains have been made over the years, the circuit remains its sweeping high-speed nature.

A brand-new pits and paddock facility were constructed ahead of the 2019 event and this hosts the Paddock Club where discerning guests can enjoy stunning views of the start-finish straight. Additional hospitality options provide superb views of the final turns, a key passing point at this high-speed circuit.
